NEW YORK CITY AFFILIATED DOULAS
Kasia Sanvee – Tier 4
Kasia has always felt the desire to serve others. The birth of her daughter began a journey and desire for Kasia to help other women have empowering births when they feel truly supported, informed and respected. So deeply affected by her own experience, Kasia has decided to help pregnant women navigate, enjoy and take ownership of their pregnancies and births. Her intention is to help women remember their true nature, so they can trust themselves, and create lives and birth experiences they love and cherish.
Kasia is a DONA International Certified Birth Doula and a trained Postpartum Doula. She is also a certified Birth Boot Camp Childbirth Educator, Lactation Counselor and Yoga Instructor. She completed her birth and postpartum doula training with Debra Pascali-Bonaro, trained and got certified as a childbirth educator through Birth Boot Camp, trained lactation support with Healthy Children Project, and studied prenatal and postnatal yoga the Khalsa Way with Gurmukh. She is also a KRI International certified Kundalini Yoga instructor. She teaches privately and occasionally at Golden Bridge Yoga in NYC. Kasia has also completed RIE Foundations training, a Magda Gerber’s approach to infants and toddlers which is all about respect and trust. It was an eye-opening thing for her, in the same way as all she has discovered around pregnancy and birth. Kasia now offers early childhood support for parents and RIE inspired playgroups for toddlers.
As a doula, Kasia supports all birth choices and provides every new mother with non-judgmental, respectful and compassionate care so that she may experience the birth in the way she desires. She truly believes pregnancy is a special and sacred time in a woman’s life to be nurtured and treasured and that birth is a life-changing experience, not only because of the birth of a child; also, because of the birth of a mother.
During postpartum visits, Kasia offers her expertise in breastfeeding, and as needed: coaching on RIE, attachment parenting, babywearing, cloth diapering, elimination communication (EC), and more.
During the summer 2014, Kasia was honored to be the "first" doula (in modern terms) in Togo, West Africa. She volunteered in a Birth Center in Lomé during her stay there, working alongside midwives. It was an amazing experience for her and she plans to go back to learn more, share, support women and widely spread Mother-Baby friendly practices.
Kasia is one of the Co-Leaders of the Manhattan Chapter of Holistic Moms Network, an open-minded community passionate about holistic life choices for the entire family.
Kasia speaks English, French and Polish and basic Spanish. She is a mother to a wonderful little girl from whom she learns every day and enjoys life in simple ways, practices yoga and loves traveling.
