Sam began her doula journey as a volunteer doula at NYU Winthrop. She supported dozens of women throughout all stages of labor and was able to attend some of their births. Through this experience she became well versed in the stages of labor, comfort measures, positioning and pain relief techniques, and providing emotional support to the entire family.  Sam's goal with every client is to make sure they feel confident, in control, and cared for during pregnancy, birth, and in the postpartum period. She has witnessed how a woman’s mentality can impact her labor, and that is why she focuses on building up the mother's confidence leading up to and during the birth. As an advocate for women's health and reproductive justice, Sam feels this is the most meaningful work she can do right now. She is committed to working towards the equitable quality care of all mothers and doing her part to address the maternal mortality crisis in the U.S., which disproportionately impacts Black women. She lives in Syosset, NY and serves families on Long Island and in New York City."
